We had a tutorial on how to use Photoshop and QuarkXpress, so we did a short design of 2 panels with Dan the teacher, the genre I chose was grime.

Production of music video: Feedback
Some of the changes we made, was after Raihan got some constructive criticism from another teacher, they said "The scene later on are spot on however the start of the video is rather slow and boring and needs to be more faster." We took this on board and cut the lengths of the clips to make them short and change onto other clips faster to instantly grab attention.
Some of the feedback we got was also the use of locations, we had to little, so we added the shisha lounge part with the girls and smoking, and the table scene.
Production of music video: Skill development - editing.
Most of the editing was done by Raihan, however me and Abde contributed with what would work better, what types of filter would look good whilst filming it to give that rich look in the final stages. During the planning our or music video, one of my friends had mentioned in their practice shots, where they where meddling around with edits that they had this amazing way to make a scene interesting by getting 2 of the same people or more in the scene. I then suggested this to our team, and we researched what other artist this was useful for...Eminem used this, and it allowed us to clarify the image we want from our artist to promote, and give a general view of what his become and what he was.
Another thing, we kept in mind was how in some music video's the music video it self, was based upon another base track. This was done by placing the clip, and cropping the clip and just placing it in the middle.

Finding the right clips checking if we could cut away and use another clip.
Just checking if the music syncs with out constant clip changing and making sure it's spot on
Editing the scene, to rewind the clip so the smoke goes back into his mouth.
Just checking through scene's to see if it suits and if theres any minor problem with sound or cut aways.

Editing before deadline

Rayhan gets most credits if not all for the editing and organizing the events
we have shown a big different editing skill from last year.
We gave the music video a very fast cut through out the video resembling to the beat.
We found that editing needs more attention in A2 making a music video
I will explain what we learned from the A2 music video soon....

Filming: Estate scene & Final day
First the Estate scene, we had a great idea where faysal found that there was cage we can access. We had thought that to make it look like a prison since this character starts off being "broke" living in a bad neighbourhood statistical he is mostly to be murdered or be in prison.
It was great we had a positive feedback after editing suggesting that it was a good scene people liked it was a good sign.
the lighting in this is so great the dark red lighting symbolising death

Filming: Estate Scene
The lighting is brilliant the dark red we didn't even need to use the red filter.

PRODUCTION OF MUSIC VIDEO: a brief overview of the new editing skills you’ve learned during the editing of your music video
I have learned during the time of the editing process of the music video, a range of skills that I thought were hard to do but were easier than I thought!
For instance, getting the same artist in the same shot, as if they were talking to themselves! I used the 'image and wireframe' function on Final Cut Pro; thereafter, using the Crop tool, I halfed one of the shots, which revealed the other shot which was layered underneath!
In addition to that skill, I also learned how to layer a shot as a border. This was done by overlaying the basetrack and cropping it to be positioned in the middle. The shots that were going to be the borders, were placed above it. Class!

Text used in the Music video
I believed during the last segment of the song, it had references to UK cities, in which, I believe I could utilise text and font, with a good effect. This would demonstrate illustration. Here is an example of London, in a swipe and 'frigid' effect, which was done on Livetype and thereafter, imported in to the final cut.
We applies a fade up effect to the other cities, to show them as inferior to London. Here's the example of Birmingham.

Feedback.
Before our final due date, we kept in mind that our video had to be high paced following such theories which state the success of a good pop/music video. we used slow motion some of the inspiration, was from such video's as this.
At times when we could, we tried to change clips and implement cutaways during the beat giving that "oomph"

Text glorious text
We used some fonts to give the same effects that was used in this video, the reason we used this is to just repeat certain key words and just repeat them to gain attention and also makes for a good cut away and makes a dull scene much more vibrant. We implemented these idea's because our start of our music video was to slow compared to the rest of the video where we had high paced editing, so we added text and cutaways to minimise the chances of getting bored easily.
Our video's context as opposed to the original
I was having a conversation with Tony, whilst watching the final edit during the editing process. We were quick to realise that we had more of a british influence in our video than Jelluzz's. The original video seemed too 'Americanised', with the whole club scene, dancers and was heavily under the influence of a champagne bottle. In a typical London night out to a club, spirits and beers are commonly drank. He didn't seem to represent what the London night life was about. Our video contextualises with shisha bars, which are in majority in London, places such as, Edgware Road are reknowned for this smoking activity, we had a wine bottle, instead of the champagne bottle. Which went well in the shisha lunge, as the red filter lighting worked well with it.

Filming: Rhyme Royale Moved
During filming in the recent weeks I moved home which I found extremely difficult to balance my college work and house work which I have skill in DIY (lool im sick).
Filming was difficult as my schedule was completely occupied because I had to help out at home. But what also happened was the mistake I made where I couldnt find my costume when we was going to film it was hard but there is good news I found the costume.

Also, blogging was not available for me to do so hopefully i can do it before deadline and try to catch up on the blogs I missed out on.

Just some idea's
We had some clips of Abde and some of the other girls, letting out smoke onto the camera, it gives that edge and this sense of that this artist is cool. There are some parts of the video where the smoke clips are reversed and then played then reversed we could possibility use this idea within our final video.
Final day and extra's
The extra filming that we had to do was within the college, we done a scene with a table and a group of people sitting by the table by using such props as glasses, and abde centre of attention, we used this because of the inspiration from the music video "Drake - Headlines"
On the final day of our video, we managed to get some people to star in it, just to get that perfect image we wanted for our artist, we used the shisha room, with the thermal heating on and the natural light it provided along side the red tint, lighting wasn't an issue on what would be considered a dark place to film. We used props such as the actual people smoking the Shisha and the bottle of fruit juice which we had to improvise as the venue didn't allow alcohol and this is the closest thing we could get to it and it worked well.

Day 2 filming and extra's
We got the venue sorted, and we went to canopy, we waited for a while for the manager to just let him know we're getting started, but he was overly late, so we thought we'd get started, we went up to the top floor, and looked at the arrangement of room, and stringed out some angles and idea's we could use that we didn't storyboard, and also to get the maximum use of the location, we took many base tracks.
However when coming back to college, we realised we needed more base tracks and more interesting clips to add to our artists profile, so when we came back the second time we had in mind that we would have Abde talking to him self, and no not in an insane manner, he would do 1 verse, and then we would edit it to make it look like he was rapping to a former self, of a different stage of life gave an interesting factor the video. We also used the pool table as cut aways hoping and planning we could use a match cut if we needed to add more clips to increase the pace

Day one filming
The first day of filming, cold and windy, but Abde managed to pull it together got some good few shots of the landscape, and the vital buildings. We done a few a base tracks and and took separate video clips of possible cut aways we could use in our final edit.
During this process we did encounter some problems with lighting, and not the artificial kind, the day became quite dark quite fast, and there was a tiny time period where we had the twilight lighting of the sky and gave a natural tint to give it that classy look. However to get perfect before it changed was proving to be harder than we thought, so we just did several shots making up for that.

Light's, camera, smoke?
Whilst at out venue of choice (Canopy) we asked for the thermal heating to be turned on, producing light and a natural red tint and also keeping our guests warm!
These are the few props we used, we used the Shisha to create that relaxed - chilled out look and also it's very trendy adding to our to our artists profile.

Filming: Hopefully the last day of canopy scene
Yes today we have just been at canopy were we final got people to come......*moment of happiness*
Big relief finally rayhan's recently called me saying he has good news telling me he can get some people to come for Saturday.
At the time i was moving, but still i agreed, scheduling it for Saturday at 4:00pm. I thought fine let me sort out the costume and the camera equipment.
However, there was a re-schedule due to transport problems, where rayhan suggested we should do it the day after on Sunday.
Sunday, filming was probably the best so far we had a group of girls (well there was 3 one had to cancel). We got the girls to take some shisha creating great scene for the lyrics "but in a city full of gas its hard to breath" were one of the girls blew some smoke into the camera. The lighting was great it resembled the cage scene the dark red. We used such features as blur that looked great Rhyme Royale was the main focus and the girls in the background were out of focus.
We are looking forward to tomorrow to finish some editing....
I will try make some comments tomorrow...

FILMING LOUNGE SCENE SAT 19TH AT CANOPY
Well, this is our last shot at making the lounge scene sorted, I managed to sort out a few girls to come; dolled up and ready to put for the camera, to come to the lounge. So we're going to meet at Westferry, thereafter, head into canopy for 4. Get a few shishas, a few drinks and get it going!
Here's a video that Abde showed me that I think we can take influence and ideas from.

DAY TWO OF FILMING: The snooker table
We went up to the first floor of Canopy and took use of the snooker tables, we thought we could experiment with the camera angles with playing the game. in addition, we could also have a bit of fun and get a few games in! The following video, is the team consulting each other about what sort of angles we can do and what would look effective.
ROUGH CUT: Feedback from the rough cut toinclude a close analysis of one sequence that you plan to change in light of teacher comments
The Pro's and Con's of the Rough Cut:
The opening shot was absolutely stunning, the river with canary wharf twinkling in the background, was superb. The Camera movement was spot on, with the font of the text, which gave the right impression for what to expect.
We used the scenery well behind the artist, problem was that it was a completely different time of day to what the opening shot was. We tried to apply the filters in final cut, but it proved to be difficult.
The table scene, which took influence, from the video 'Headlines' by Drake. Proved to be one of the most entertaining and eventful parts of the video, Rhyme Royale was calm and composed, while his collegues were arguing.
When he slammed his hands on the table, to propose a truce with a toast. This gave off all the right signals, that he is a powerful don, that always has the last word.
The cut away of the champagne glass, being swished, out of focus slightly was something soft to the eye, which I believe fitted in well with the lyric, as we attempted to demonstrate illustration: 'With a big boy bottle of 'Pagne' (meaning Champagne)
We also had some powerful shots, such as this one, where Ryhme Royale is stretching his hands, that almost looks like as if he is trying to grab the buildings. This shows the dominance in power that he has, he came from a council estate to being able to run things in the glossy side of London City.
The Mise-En-Scene and costume, through out the video was conducted very well. We thought of formal and casual clothing, as depicted. The props such as money, was flashed about and all over the table. This showed that money isn't a object to Ryhme Royale.
The end shot was absolutely on point, he gave a nice smirk, and flicked the card of king of hearts. Which was a nice touch!
TOEKNEE THE TEACHA'S comments:
- He suggested, that we should use more cut aways in the video during the chrous, as Rhyme Royale's vocals aren't used in those parts.
- We should try to incorporate more locations of London, as we particularly used Canary Wharf quite a bit.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY, we all know this, we needed girls for the video. The lyrics have a empathy on the female acquirment. However, being me I have managed to sort out a few girls to re-do the lounge scene, once more for Saturday 19th November at the Canopy Lounge.
