Well, we've come across a few problems regarding the content we have filmed. For instance, the lighting and the failed party lounge scene has held us up, quite a bit. So we have booked the camera equipment again, for this friday and we're going to film again, both the chorus scene - that takes place at Canary Wharf and the we have a new lounge to film the party scene at, in the docksides of east London, called, 'cloud nine shisha lounge'. Since the british summer time has come to an end, it gets dark earlier, which has come to our advantage, as we can do the chorus scene earlier and thereafter, we can go to cloud nine to film the rest.
Hello group 3
Good to hear that you don't panic when faced with difficulties - I am really impressed with how you are moving forward with your plans after the failed party attempt in half term. Raihan - your blogs are coming on brilliantly. Faysal and Abde - keep up the good work (don't forget that you should also be blogging about the production process too). Am looking forward to seeing all your footage on Monday.
Day 3, can't say I'm not disappointed. Here it goes day 3 Pros and cons. Still shooting in Canopy its 2nd day.
Positive things about today:
we had great shots
we got some ONE to come along to our video
we had great ideas
loyalty from rayhan's cousin
costume
we had an Early day - everyone went home early then scheduled
we tried to book another day
Negative things about today:
Only 1! person came along - because of short notice
we didn't have as much shots or base tracks as we wanted
we didn't have enough people
we wasn't happy about some shots from before like the split screen shot
hardly anyone came along to canopy
We had an early day - didn't have done as much as we should
We failed to book any upcoming days
we have to look for another place (Lounge) needed.
Well the population inside the lounge was 1 not including the artist or the group members
I mentioned the background people more than once because they are IMPORTANT. For example you can not celebrate something without people to celebrate with (its just wrong).
Reason for not promised people because of short notice, I tried getting people myself but they either saying "aaaah sorry man short notice fam, this is late notice I'm too busy" or " I'm busy doing my media music video" to be honest I dont blame them I agree it is short notice I don't expect people to not have a life and be watching the wall waiting for my call to be in a music video.
Anyway me and Rayhan have to drop the media equipment we agreed to shot before we get to college as we need to shot our estate scene.
Day 3, from the upset of yesterday were we couldn't get no one to be in the background rayhan give some good news.
He told be that he is calling his cousin who doesn't live far and might bring some people with him.
so looking forward to today hopefully we will get our shots if not we might have to arrange another day to film in canopy, westferry, even though its not recommended we should try to do as much as we can.
So, Day 3
plans:
another base track
some top secret plan which we are going to use
hopefully have background girls for cut away
more cut away
after if we finished today we can give back the camera equimpent back to college even though me and rayhan made plans to film in the morning for our estate scene
I had problems at first learning these lyrics that most part didn't even make sense. Even with the struggle I had a copy of the song in my phone so when im listening to my music ill put Jelluze - its my city track on repeat.
After a while going into day 1 of filming I got the hang of it and learned the whole of verse 1, 2 and 3.
Going to film in day 1 I was a bit rusty were a skipped a word or jumped a line it wasn't to bad but the weather is to be blamed I was freezing so yh don't blame me blame the weather. But hopefully ill be perfect tomorrow for our lounge scene
Even though these lyrics below are incorrect due to lack of promotion of the song.
First day of shooting in Rotherhithe were we done our CanaryWharf scene. Results were great according to RAYHAN, felt like we accomplished the chorus part of the song at the end of the day.
Even though it was cold and a man down faysal had to attend wedding we knew we had to carry on with the schedule.
We got multiple shots close range mid-shot we were happy with the shots we gained and the base track that we are going to use throughout the music video.
Day 2 of filming, we are hoping to "raise the roof" in canopy this part of filming is important as its going to consist majority of the music video, this scene is meant to be a celebration that Rhyme Royale owns the city "its my city".
we are liking this shisha lounge because it has different setting so were not stuck with same background or lighting. There is shisha bar and snooker socializing lounge upstairs and a dinning area near the entrance.
We gained permission from one of the owners named shahed he was too kind gave us two days to film.
so hopefully this enough time to film our lounge scene
Day 2 of filming, our location Canopy, the week before we gained access to the lounge being approved by one of the managers that work there he was kind enough to give us 2 days of filming. In a perfect world we thought that was enough but we don't live in a perfect world :(.
Problems we faced:
We faced a big problem because one of the important factors important for that day was PEOPLE to come yes its embarrassing for us well known social-able guys to not get at least 5 people. We counted on some friends of a group members that we gained information a day before that the group that was going to come were CAMERA SHY. We were very upset I mean pissed off as our plan was falling apart we never thought we would experience this disaster as we trusted a group member to SORT out the background performers as quoted he said "Trust me I got this, I can get ber man".
Results:
Even with the big upset we managed to get some base cuts and cut away from playing snooker or random shot with snooker cues. Hopefully tomorrow is going to be better. We also had an idea that we should have to different shots of the same artist but different clothing the reason for this it shows the battle of the class and almost resembles a "rap battle".
Well, we haven't been able to get enough people (meaning girls) to be in the crowd or the background scene for tuesday, due to 'unavailability' and being damn 'camera-shy', however, I've come up with a idea that will hopefully give us some time to sort out that aspect for wednesdays filming. I got the idea from the video of, 'Drake - Headlines', the soundtrack itself is very similar to ours, in terms, of the tempo and beats; the shots in the video are very conductive, especially the scene with him at the dining table, with his boys drinking and smoking, despite the fact that there is expensive cutlery on the table!
This particular shot is very interesting, as he is in a glass elevator going up and observing the cityscape, this has a connotation that he is up and coming, he is rising above his city. It demonstrates that love-hate relationship between him and his city. We could manipulate this aspect with our artist, Rhyme Royale, with the London cityscape.
Well, we went to film at Rotherhithe in South East London, behind the Hilton Docklands hotel which provided a spectacular view of Canary Wharf glittering like a disco ball. We we're there from 4pm up half 6 and though it was windy and cold, we filmed 4 base tracks and useful cut-aways, that we believe will be very effective in filming. PROBLEM, was that Faysal couldn't make it to the filming, so we were one man down, however, we are PROFESSIONALS... we don't panic.
Tuesday 25th & Wednesday 26th: Canopy Lounge filming from 4-9pm.
were are going to film today at the Rotherhithe docks. We are filming our Canary Wharf scene. Me Raihan and Faysal are going to plan out each shots including using Canary Wharf Skyline.
I am overly excited......YAY... -_-
This isn't the exact suit we're going to use however, this is a rough idea on something we're looking for but probably with a skinny tie to give that more stylish look.
Due to the lack of promotion of the song, the lyrics were hard to find on the internet, we had to alter and re-write the version we found on Youtube. Quite a process it was!
We have used a range of camera angels, reason being we've done this one in a low angel, is to give a sense of power and status to our artist, and we where trying to get the effect that the artist has direct eye contact with viewer. We followed conventions of good pop music videos with constant movement if we had the camera still we would have the artist doing all the movement, and thats what we made our artist do, he crouched down to the camera to make sure that we followed certain theories.
Another thing we had to consider is lighting, whilst viewing previous years media work, there was an issue with lighting, where it looked bright enough on the camera however it was very dark when presented on a computer screen, so we took the time and area to film under direct light, to make sure we had everything right, and the light give a nice glow which was enhanced by the camera's filter.
Me, Raihan will be going to the "Canopy" on the 18th of October past 5pm where they have agreed to discuss, our plans of filming in their lounge, we will try come to an agreement and get out filming properly started!
Me and Faysal have organised a meeting with the canopy lounge owners to discuss when we can use their venue, in accordance to our filming schedule. This will take place at 5pm on Tuesday 17th at their lounge location in Westferry, Canary wharf.
