Research for Music Video: Function of a music video

The function of a music video is promote the artist as much as it can, and give an outline and impression about what the artist is about and what their music style is, during class lessons we look at many video's and the video's which gained the most attention and the most talked about after viewing all the clips of songs, were the most outrageous ones.  For example, the most recognised video's in current music industry is Lady gaga, for her bonkers dressing styles and dance routines and costumes and make up within music videos which gains her a lot of popularity as it's almost like a viral video which gets passed around, and this is what makes a artist popular.
